Wash Day | Relaxer Prep

I am planning to retouch my new growth in about a week – so this is my last wash day before that process. I decided to give my hair a much needed protein boost – I prefer giving my hair some protein before a relaxer, at my last relaxer, I did the mid-protein step and my hair was giving off a very chemically smell which I didn’t like at all. I thought that maybe I didn’t rinse the relaxer too well, I think also this was the culprit for some of my over-processed hair.

Anyway, back to the wash day at hand…

[1] Did a hot oil treatment as my pre-poo, I used coconut oil infused with peppermint oil, I detangled my hair and massaged the scalp. I sat under heat for 30 minutes (my blow drier came back from the dead *yippeee*)

[2] I shampooed in sections with my new Aunt Jackie’s Oh So Clean Moisturising & Softening Shampoo – it was my first time using it and it worked well, it foamed well and my hair was soft afterwards. All the products from this range smell soooo good!

[3] I gave my hair a protein treatment using AphoGee  2 Minute Keratin Reconstructor – I sat under the heat with it for 10 minutes

[4] I used Dabur Vatika Deep Conditioning conditioner to add moisture back into my hair (I added a teaspoon of glycerine & the remainder of the coconut & peppermint oil mix to the condtioner). I heated this mixture and I DCed under heat for 25 minutes and another 25 minutes without heat.

[5] T-shirt dried the hair, sprayed on ACV solution and applied my leave-ins: Motions CPR Triple Action Leave-In Conditioner and Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming Leave-In Conditioner

[6] I moisturised and sealed my hair using Strength of Nature Profectiv Break Free Daily Leave-In Strengthner, coconut oil and olive oil. This is the first time I have moisturised after applied my leave-ins, I picked up this trick from one of the hair bloggers.

[7] Bunned. I will be keeping my hair in a bun for the rest of the week.

This was a looong wash day, the whole process took 5 hours, I only finished just before midnight – week day wash days are sometimes not the one. I lost a lot of hair during this wash day – every time I ran my fingers through my hair, I came back with a few strands that looked like knots but not really. I am very keen to relax my hair now.

My hair felt good in the morning – this was a successful wash day

Hey, I get some of my products overseas like the Aphogee and Beautiful Textures. The most of my products I buy here in SA – I trawl all the hair product shops like Dischem, Clicks and Cash & Carry shops
